Reynolds Whatley is a Partner Planner with Synergy Settlement Services, primarily serving the Southeastern United States and recently expanding across the country. Reynolds joined Synergy because his clients expressed a desire for comprehensive settlement planning in complex areas such as government benefit preservation, trust services, lien resolution, and Medicare Set-Asides, all of which complement his knowledge of traditional structured settlement annuities. Without proper planning and professional guidance, many injury victims are at risk of being taken advantage of and losing what their attorneys have fought so hard for. These clients can easily end up impoverished and emotionally broken.
Reynolds was involved in an accident in 2003 resulting in a partial disability and much grief. This experience shaped his perspective, passion, and empathy toward personal injury victims. Having a drive to help those who have suffered traumatizing loss, Reynolds began his career in the settlement planning business in 2004 when an attorney asked for help creating an income stream for his disabled claimant. Reynolds began working with those injured as a result of auto accidents, defective products, and negligent employment practices, along with workers’ compensation claims and wrongful death actions. Attorneys now rely on Reynolds to attend mediations, listen to their clients express unique wants and needs, educate them about the options available, and craft personalized plans for their clients.
By way of background, Reynolds was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, and is fortunate to have lots of extended family in town. First attending Western State College of Colorado via academic scholarship, Reynolds finished at the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a minor in Spanish and major in International Political Science. His sales career began in 1994 when Reynolds was courted in school by a local manufacturer. In 1997, at age 26, he made the transition to financial services where he began building his planning practice. Through his work with business owners and attorneys, he has earned numerous company and industry awards for planning excellence.
Reynolds has developed a unique understanding of the medical, emotional, and financial needs of injury victims inside and outside of litigation. Outside of professional duties, Reynolds enjoys most anything outdoors, exercising, fishing, and volunteering time with various organizations. While having the privilege of assisting injury victims and loving his work in the settlement planning business, Reynolds believes that giving without the chance of receiving in return is life’s ultimate gift.
