Jeff Smith is a settlement planner with Synergy, providing comprehensive settlement planning services exclusively to plaintiff attorneys and their clients. Jeff is partnered with Steve Harris and together, in their Twin Cities offices, they provide expertise and assistance to attorneys by helping to identify and resolve issues relating to special needs trusts, Medicare compliance, and set-asides, subrogation or lien claims, and financial planning options that will benefit their client.

Jeff was a partner and manager in a St. Paul law firm for 26 years, representing clients with a variety of injuries and circumstances. This extensive experience gives him an excellent understanding of the strategies, concerns, and issues that injury victims and their attorneys face. Due to this expertise, he works primarily with the attorneys on matters such as drafting and preparation of all documents, including those requiring court approval.

Jeff has always exclusively represented plaintiffs, fought for injury victims, and is a staunch advocate for justice. For these reasons, you can trust that he will always be on your side, have no conflicts of interest, and work hard to maximize and preserve a client’s settlement.

Jeff graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Gustavus Adolphus College, majoring in business and economics. He went on to graduate cum laude from Hamline University School of Law. While practicing law, he achieved an AV Preeminent Rating with Martindale-Hubbell, a recognition of strong legal ability and high ethical standards. Jeff is a member of the Minnesota Association for Justice.

Outside of work, Jeff is a fifth-degree black belt master in taekwondo and has been instructing for over 20 years, including at his own taekwondo school.  He and his wife live in St. Paul and have two adult children. He enjoys activities like biking, hiking, fishing, golf and time with family at their cabin in northern Minnesota.
